Putnam County non-profits receive AEDs through Hendricks Regional
Putnam County now has three more Automated External Defibrillators as Hendricks Regional Health Foundation’s AED Fund donated the AEDs last week.
Putnam County Museum, Putnam County Playhouse and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church/Putnam County Non-Food Pantry were visited by members of the Hendricks Regional Health leadership team as they made presentations at each location.
An AED is a lightweight, portable and easy-to-use device that nearly anyone can use to help save someone's life, be it adult or child, during sudden cardiac arrest. The device delivers an electric shock to the heart to restore its normal rhythm, providing a crucial intervention until advanced medical care is available.
"Our partner organizations are always grateful when receiving an AED, but they're the ones who deserve the thanks," President and CEO of Hendricks Regional Health Dr. Michelle Fenoughty said. "Through their willingness to host an AED and learn how to use it, they become lifesavers because if there's one thing we know when it comes to cardiac arrest, it's that early treatment makes a difference in patient outcomes. Hendricks is immensely grateful to the museum, playhouse and non-food pantry."
With three additional AEDs now in Putnam County, that brings the total number of AED’s donated by Hendricks Regional Health to 12 across the county. Along with the museum, playhouse and food pantry, other locations include Bainbridge Improvement Society, North Putnam Community Schools, PMH Ambulance, Putnam County Community Foundation, Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Cloverdale.
"Protecting the community's health is our privilege, and we don't take it lightly," Hendricks Regional Health Foundation Executive Director Joel Harbaugh said. "Every day, the Foundation works alongside the incredible healthcare team at Hendricks and our generous, philanthropic neighbors to enhance patient care, innovate healthcare delivery and support education and training. The AED Fund demonstrates that a gift to the HRH Foundation supports those who rely on our vital work when they need it most."
The AED Fund was made possible by donations from the October 2022 Hendricks Regional Health Foundation Gala.
