Fred Allen Pursell

Fred Allen Pursell, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Fred was born in Putnam County on July 22, 1938, the son of Carl and Dortha (Beck) Pursell. He was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mr. Pursell was a member of the Storehouse Church. He worked for IBM for 26 years until his retirement in 1987. He also dealt and collected antiques and collectibles.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Loretta Pursell; three sons, Allen Pursell (Tamara)of Lanesville, Darrin Pursell of Panama City, Fla., and Brent Pursell (Megan) of Lafayette; a daughter, Teresa Campbell (Arthur) of Houston, Texas; three stepchildren, Deborah Gress (Tim) of Newtown, Lisa West of Newport and Kirk Nave of Newport; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and John Pursell; and two sisters, Betty Query and Freda Thrasher.

Visitation will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Thomas Cemetery in Newport.
