Stephen Arthur Linton, 77, of Brazil, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on Oct. 6, 2024.

Steve was born on Dec. 8, 1946, in Brazil, the son of Arthur and Doris (Tiefel) Linton.

Steve graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1965. Much of his 30-year career, Steve worked for Allisons Gas Turbine, a division of General Motors. Following retirement, he worked several years for Emmert Property Management.

Steve served in the Army Reserves from 1966 until 1972. He was a lifetime member of Union United Church, where he served in many different capacities.

In his free time, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents Art and Doris Linton; in-laws Clyde and Miriam (Whittington) Cooksey.

He is survived by his wife, Rita (Cooksey) Linton. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his children, Gregory Linton and wife Heather, Lisa Timberman and husband Kevin and Ryan Linton and wife Valerie; grandchildren Jaclyn (Matt) Williams, Nicole (Quinton) Heffner, Ethan (fiancée Anna Tallent) Linton, Katie (Michael) Stuckey, Jessie (Brad) Wilson, Shelby (Tyler) Wilson, Abbey (Jim) Mace, Grace (Kyle) Rice, Ashley (Neil) Lewzader, Bryce Linton and Kody Linton; great-grandchildren Tucker Williams, Finn Williams, Luke Williams, Reece Heffner, Cole G. Heffner, Lainey Stuckey, Lanna Wilson, Myra Wilson, Vaughn Wilson, Cale Wilson, Rhett Wilson, Allie Wilson, Rory Mace, Clyde Mace, Clay Rice, Suttyn Lewzader and great-grandchild number 17 expected in December; siblings Kathy French and husband Steve, Tim Linton and wife Sally and Diane Haviland and husband Rick, as well as several extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4-8 p.m. Services will be at Union United Church, 780 E. County Road 600 North Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Friday, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
