Indiana Humanities is inviting Greencastle-area residents to come together for dinner and discussion on Oct. 17 as part of Chew on This, an event series that uses the power of food and drink as a convener of people and catalyst for conversation.

Greencastle will be one of six sites around the state where small groups will meet over dinner and discuss how food plays a role in creating community.

Kristen Fuhs Wells will facilitate the discussion in Greencastle, at The Putnam Inn. Fuhs Wells is executive director of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) at the Prindle Institute, former vice president of Indiana Humanities and co-founder of the Putnam County Mural Project. She also serves as a board member of the Greencastle Civic League and Friends of the Park of Putnam County.

“Time and time again, our Chew on This experience has allowed Hoosiers to engage in meaningful conversation with people they might not otherwise meet,” said Marisol Gouveia, director of engagement at Indiana Humanities. “Our hope is that guests leave the dinners feeling connected, and that they continue to think about and use their recipes for community long after they’ve left.”

Chew on This is set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Putnam Inn, 400 N. Jackson St. Cost is $30 per person, which includes meal, non-alcoholic drinks, tax and tip.

Other participating restaurants and cities are Aroma Indian Cuisine in Indianapolis, La Catrina Tacos & Tequila in Jeffersonville, Legacy West African Cuisine in Muncie, Thai Villa Cuisine in Fishers and Oak & Alley in Warsaw.
