Martha J. (Williamson) Wallace, 88, of Plainfield, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 10, 2024.

Martha was the daughter of the late Forrest and Myrth Williamson. She was born June 12, 1936 in Hendricks County.

She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1954 and then attended the Royal Beauty Academy, graduating in December 1954. She was employed at the Camille Beauty Salon in Greencastle as a licensed beautician until March 1957. Changing careers, she then was employed at Allison Division GMC in Indianapolis for 36 years before retiring in 1992.

Martha quickly determined that she wasn’t ready for retirement so began another career working for six years with the Indiana Department of Education before retiring again in 1999.

She married Robert E. Wallace on Oct. 19, 1957, and he preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother L. Tracy Williamson and sister Vera J. Hutchinson.

Surviving are her daughters, Julie (Jerry) Knust and Jo Ellen (Jeff) Hansen; brothers Jim (Judy) Williamson and Jerry (Linda) Williamson; grandchildren Blake (Heather) Hansen, Rachel (Joel) Neve, Adam (Angela) Knust, Hannah (Lucas) Smith and Caleb Knust; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Plainfield, where she served on numerous committees. She loved to cook and had the gift of hospitality and provided meals for friends and family. She was an active member of Bible Study Fellowship for several years. She carried a smile and warm heart for all whom she met, a quality that lives on in her children.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund of First Baptist Church, 1012 Stafford Rd., Plainfield, IN 46168.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the First Baptist Church of Plainfield with burial to follow in the Stilesville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time in the Church.
