CLOVERDALE – Even though it was fall break for Cloverdale schools, that didn’t stop the monthly school board meeting from taking place Monday evening.

Supt. Greg Linton addressed the school board on a tentative agreement between the CCSC and the Cloverdale Education Association.

A few of the things that Linton spoke to the board about included a raise in teacher salaries with the base salary now beginning at $46,800 and a teacher with a masters’ degree to $77,600.

The highlight of the night was the recognition of the students and staff of the month for the school district.

Layne Mattingly, fourth grader at Cloverdale Elementary, Wyatt Sutt, seventh grader at Cloverdale Middle School and Allen Phillips, senior at Cloverdale High School were named the students of the month. Kathryn Hoffman was the recipient of the teacher of the month for CHS.

“This is always a special time of our meetings,” school board president Vivian Whitaker said. “Kathryn you’re a real gem and our kids are so fortunate to have you in class. You put your heart and soul into teaching. The world would be such a better place if we had more of you.”

“Congrats to both Allen and Layne as you both are great examples of what a Cloverdale student represents.”

The school board also approved a part-time athletic director position at CMS as requested by principal Chelsey Muluch. This new position will be responsible for school periods as AD.

Meluch said in a written statement to the board, “Having this position would allow a dedicated individual to be responsible for athletic programming that is aligned with the overall goals of Cloverdale Middle School. I need an athletic director that is dedicated to providing the best athletic experiences for our students.

“In addition, I want this position to emphasize hosting athletic events at CMS in way that showcases our facilities to other schools, visiting parents and visiting students so that we are the highest example of athletics at the middle school level,” Meluch added.

  • Are we hiring lay coaches now? You can get great coaches from the community. I was excited to read this Cloverdale hall of fame list! Remember this down the road Mr. Wade.
