County Council adopts $9 million tax levy for 2025

The culmination of a months-long annual process, the Putnam County Council recently made final approval of the 2025 county budget, tax levy and tax rate.

Putnam County government will operate in 2025 on a total budget of $25,498,604.

Of that, $9,339,560 will come directly from property taxes, the approved tax levy for the year collected from a tax rate of 0.6063, or 60.63 cent per $100 of assessed value.

Other budgets, rates and levies approved by the county council included:

• Putnam County Airport Authority — Budget: $1,069,804; Levy: $713,900; Rate: 0.0404

• Floyd Township Fire District — Budget: $197,490; Levy: $257,235; Rate: 0.0712

• Walnut Creek Fire Protection District — Budget: $323,545; Levy: $185,626; Rate: 0.0892

• Roachdale Fire Protection District — Budget: $167,250; Levy: $110,489; Rate: 0.0582

• West Central Solid Waste District — Budget $293,300; Levy: $0; Rate: 0.0 

The Council also approved the $26,351,337 budget for Greencastle Community Schools. This includes a tax levy of $10,303,475 and a rate of 2.3206. GCSC must receive final budget approval from the County Council due to the school being governed by an appointed board.
